Create, rename, switch and delete workspaces
Make a workspace for each client or project, move between them from the menu, and rename or delete the ones you no longer need.
When you're done, each client or project has its own workspace, and you can move between them.
Who can do this: the account owner, on Creator, Business and Academy (the plans with more than one workspace). Team members can switch between the workspaces shared with them, but they can't create, rename or delete workspaces.
Create a workspace
- Open Settings and find Workspaces.
- Type a name in the box at the bottom (1), for example the client's name. Up to 60 characters, and different from your other workspaces' names.
- Click Create workspace (2). The new workspace opens straight away: "… created. You're now working in it."
When every workspace in your plan is in use, the box is replaced by "You're using all … workspaces in your plan. Delete one you don't need to make another." See how many each plan has.
Switch workspaces
The Workspace box at the top of the menu (1) shows the workspace you're working in. Click it and choose another one (2). Workspaces other people shared with you are listed under Shared with you. Manage workspaces (3) opens the Workspaces card in Settings.
You can also click Open next to a workspace in Settings. The one you're in is marked Open now.
The open workspace decides what you see on the Dashboard, Chirps, Collections, Academy, Analytics, Leads and Import pages, and in Settings under Public branding, Email services and Custom domains. Pages name it, for example "Chirps in Harbor Dental."
Your choice is remembered in this browser. In another browser or on another device, you start in your main workspace.
Rename a workspace
- In Workspaces, click the pencil button next to its name (1).
- Change the name and click Save ("Renamed"), or Cancel.
You can rename every workspace, the main one included. Links to your Chirps don't change.
Delete a workspace
You can delete any workspace except your main one, once it's empty:
- Move or delete its Chirps, archived ones included: see Move a Chirp to another workspace and Duplicate, archive or delete a Chirp.
- Delete its Collections. If it has a custom domain, open the workspace and remove the domain in Settings, Custom domains.
- Download its leads and delete them on the Leads page: see The Leads page and exporting leads.
- On the Academy plan, remove its courses and students on the Academy page.
- Click the trash button next to the workspace (2) and confirm: "Delete the workspace "…"? It must be empty first. Its email service connections are deleted with it." You see "Workspace deleted".
Its folders, its email service connections, its branding and its own OpenRouter key are deleted with it. Team members lose access to it, and an event webhook that only got events from it is switched off. Anyone who could open only this workspace stays on your team and keeps a seat: give them another workspace or remove them in Team. There's no undo.
If it doesn't work
- "Give the workspace a name" or "Workspace names can be up to 60 characters"
- "You already have a workspace called "…"" Names count as the same whatever their capital letters.
- "More workspaces come with the Creator, Business and Academy plans."
- "Your plan includes … workspaces. Delete one you don't need, or upgrade for more."
- "The main workspace can't be deleted."
- "… still has 2 Chirps. Move or delete them first."
- "… still has 1 Collection. Delete them first."
- "… still has a custom domain. Remove it in Settings first."
- "… still has 3 leads, which would be deleted with it. Download them from the Leads page and delete them there first."
- "… still has an Academy with 2 courses and 5 students, which would be deleted with it. Remove them on the Academy page first."
- "Couldn't create the workspace." or "Couldn't rename the workspace." Try again in a minute.
