Invite people to your workspaces
Invite editors, and on Business workspace admins and viewers, to the workspaces you choose, and manage their roles, seats and invitations.
When you're done, the people you invited work in the workspaces you chose, each with their own login.
Who can do this: the account owner on Creator and Academy (editors) and Business (workspace admins, editors and viewers). On Business, workspace admins can also invite editors and viewers to the workspaces they run.
Roles and seats
| Creator and Academy | Business | |
|---|---|---|
| Builder seats, counting you | 3 | 10 |
| Roles you can give | Editor | Workspace admin, Editor, Viewer |
| Viewers, who don't use a seat | none | up to 50 |
What each role can do, as the invitation form describes it:
- Workspace admin: "Runs their workspaces: Chirps, Collections, publishing, deleting, leads, access, lead forms, branding, email services and the people in them."
- Editor: "Builds and edits Chirps and Collections. Publishes only if you allow it."
- Viewer: "Looks without changing anything: Chirps, Collections, analytics and leads. Good for clients. Doesn't use a builder seat."
Each person has one role in your account, in every workspace you give them. Nobody on your team sees your billing, your account's OpenRouter key, or workspaces you didn't give them.
Invite someone
- Open Settings and find Team. It shows how many seats are used, for example "3 of 10 builder seats used (including you), plus 1 viewer."
- Under Invite someone, type their email address.
- On Business, choose Workspace admin, Editor or Viewer (1).
- Under Workspaces they can open:, click each workspace they need (2).
- For an editor, leave They can publish on (3), or switch it off if you'd rather publish their work yourself.
- Click Send invitation (4): "Invitation emailed to …".
They get an email from Chirp Builder with a link that works for 14 days. They sign in, or create an account (no plan needed), with that email address. See Accept an invitation. If the email can't be sent, the invitation is still made, and you see "Invitation created. Copy the link below and send it to them." with Copy.
Your team
Everyone you invited is listed with their role, their workspaces and a tag: Invited until they accept, Invitation expired after 14 days, or Paused (not in the current plan).
- Change their workspaces: click the workspace names under them. It saves straight away. Everyone keeps at least one workspace.
- Change their role (Business): choose it in the role menu: "Now editor", for example. It applies straight away, without asking first. After changing someone to Editor, check their Can publish (publish changes, and make Chirps and Collections public, unlisted or draft) switch.
- Resend: sends a new link that works for 14 days. The link sent before stops working.
- Remove: click the trash button and confirm "Remove …? They lose access straight away." This also cancels an invitation. Any OpenRouter key they added to a workspace is deleted with them.
Nobody is emailed when you change or remove them.
Seats and invitations
- An invitation uses a seat (or a viewer place) from the moment it's sent, just like a team member.
- An expired invitation no longer uses a seat. Resend it to send a new link; that needs a free seat again.
- To invite someone again, use Resend: inviting the same address twice gives "You've already invited that email address."
Workspace admins inviting people (Business)
In a workspace they run, workspace admins see People in … in Settings: "As a workspace admin you can invite editors and viewers to this workspace. Builder seats come from …'s plan."
- They invite editors and viewers to that workspace. Someone already on your team is simply given this workspace too ("… can now open this workspace too"), and keeps their role.
- They can change the role and publishing of people who work only in workspaces they run, and take editors and viewers out of their workspace: "Take … out of this workspace?" You see "Removed from this workspace". Someone taken out of the only workspace they had leaves your team.
- Only you can make someone a workspace admin, remove a workspace admin, or resend an invitation.
When your plan changes
Nobody is removed. If your plan has fewer seats, or not a role someone has, people stay in the order you invited them up to what the plan includes. The rest show Paused (not in the current plan) and can't open anything until your plan includes them again. On a plan without a team, the list stays so you can remove people, but you can't invite anyone, and invitations can't be accepted.
If it doesn't work
- "Enter a valid email address." or "That's the account owner's email address."
- "Choose at least one workspace for them."
- "You've already invited that email address."
- "Your plan includes 3 builder seats, including yours. Remove someone first, or upgrade for more." An invitation that hasn't expired uses a seat too.
- "You can have up to 50 viewers. Remove one first."
- "Workspace admins and view-only clients come with the Business plan."
- "Inviting editors comes with the Creator and Academy plans (3 builder seats each) and Business (10)."
- "They've already accepted."
- For workspace admins: "They're already in this workspace.", "Only the account owner can change this person, because they also work in other workspaces.", "Only the account owner can remove a workspace admin." and "The account owner's plan includes 10 builder seats, including theirs, and they're all in use. Ask the account owner to free one up or upgrade."
