Name, picture and description
Give your Chirp the name, picture and description visitors see at the top of its chat.
When you're done, your Chirp has a picture, a clear name and a one-line description on its chat page.
Who can do this: anyone who can edit the Chirp, on any plan.
What you'll need: a picture, if you want one, such as a PNG, JPEG or WebP file. Animated GIFs become still pictures.
Add a picture
-
Open the Chirp and find 1. Identity.
-
Click Upload picture and choose an image from your computer.
Upload picture; it's cropped to a square for you. -
Chirp Builder crops it to a square from the centre, so put the important part in the middle. To go back to the standard picture, click Remove.
Name and description
- Name: up to 80 characters. It's the title of the chat page and the name on your Chirps list.
- Description: up to 2,000 characters, though one sentence works best. Visitors see it under the name, before they start chatting.
Make it public
Click Save. If the Chirp is already published, click Publish changes too: the picture, name and description are part of what visitors see, so they change only when you publish.
The web address works differently: see Create a Chirp by hand.
If it doesn't work
- "Couldn't read that image" Try another file, such as a PNG or JPEG.
- The picture is cut off. It's cropped to a square from the centre. Crop it yourself first, then upload it again.
