Add conversation starters

Give visitors up to 12 questions they can tap to start a chat.

EssentialsCreatorBusinessAcademyFor: Account owner, Workspace admin, Editor

When you're done, visitors see a few ready-made questions they can tap instead of typing.

Who can do this: anyone who can edit the Chirp, on any plan.

Add starters

  1. Open the Chirp and find 3. Conversation starters.

  2. Type a question in Add a starter… and click Add (or press Enter). Repeat for each one, up to 12, each up to 300 characters.

Type a starter and click Add; the X removes one.
  3. To change a starter, click it and edit the text. To take one away, click the X beside it.

  4. Click Save, then Publish changes if the Chirp is already published.

Starters appear in the order you added them. To change the order, remove a starter and add it again.

What success looks like

Visitors see your starters as buttons when they open the chat. Tapping one sends it as their first message.

Good starters

  • Show what the Chirp is best at: "What can I plant in October?" beats "Ask me anything".
  • Keep them short enough to read at a glance.
  • Three or four are usually plenty.
