Accept an invitation

Accept an invitation to someone's Chirp Builder workspaces with a new or existing login, no plan of your own needed.

EssentialsCreatorBusinessAcademyFor: Anyone

When you're done, you can open the workspaces someone shared with you, signed in with your own login.

Who this is for: anyone who got a Chirp Builder invitation by email. You don't need a plan of your own, and nothing is charged.

Open the invitation

The email comes from Chirp Builder, with the subject "… invited you to build Chirps together" (for viewers: "… shared their Chirps with you"). Click the link in it. It works for 14 days.

The page says who invited you, the start of the address it was sent to, and your role, for example "Priya Shah invited you (zo…@example.com) to edit their Chirps in Chirp Builder, as an editor." It adds "You'll see only the workspaces they chose, never their billing or keys. You don't need a plan of your own."

New here (1), or already have an account (2).

If you're new to Chirp Builder

  1. Click Create an account (1).
  2. Fill in Full name, Email and Password (at least 8 characters), and click Create account. Use the email address the invitation was sent to. See Create your account and log in.
  3. You see "Check your email". Click the confirmation link in that email. It brings you back to the invitation, signed in.
  4. Click Accept invitation.

If you already have an account

  1. Click I already have an account (2) and log in with the address the invitation was sent to.
  2. Back on the invitation, click Accept invitation.

After you accept, Chirps opens in the first workspace shared with you. Your own account and your own Chirps stay as they were. See Working in a workspace someone shared with you.

Signed in with another address

If you're logged in with a different email address, the page says "You're signed in as …, but this invitation was sent to …". Click Log out and use …, then log in or create an account with the address the invitation was sent to. You come back to the invitation.

Good to know

  • There's no Decline button. If you don't want to join, ignore the email.
  • Each new email has a new link. When the owner resends an invitation, the link in the earlier email stops working. Use the newest one.
  • Your role and workspaces are chosen by the person who invited you. Ask them if you need another workspace.
  • Without a plan of your own, you can work in the workspaces shared with you, but not build Chirps of your own: see What you can do without a plan.

If it doesn't work

Ask for a new invitation.
  • "This invitation isn't valid" with "It has expired. Ask for a new one." or "It may have been used already or withdrawn. Ask for a new one." Ask the person who invited you to send it again.
  • "This invitation has expired. Ask for a new one." or "This invitation isn't valid anymore. Ask for a new one."
  • "This invitation is for …. Sign in with that email address to accept it." See "Signed in with another address" above.
  • "That's your own invitation."
  • "This invitation can't be accepted right now, because the account owner's plan doesn't include team members. Ask them to check their plan." (or "doesn't include" workspace admins, editors or viewers)
  • "Couldn't accept the invitation." Try again in a minute.
