Knowledge storage and your plan's limit
How much space your knowledge files use, what counts toward it, and what to do when it's full.
When you're done, you know how much knowledge storage you have and how to free some up.
Who this is for: account owners, and workspace admins and editors who add files.
See how much you've used
Open any saved Chirp in the editor. Under the drop zone in 4. Knowledge, Knowledge storage (whole account) shows how much is used of your plan's storage. The figure turns red when 90% is used.
This bar is the only place storage is shown.
What counts
- Every knowledge file in every Chirp, in all your workspaces, counted at the size of the file you uploaded.
- Files in Academy courses, if you have the Academy plan.
- Files an AI app added for you, counted at the size of their text.
- Copies: duplicating a Chirp, or starting from a template, copies its files, and the copies count too.
In a workspace someone shared with you, the bar shows the account owner's storage: files you add there count toward their account.
When it's full
New files are turned away with "Not enough knowledge storage for … You have … left of …". Files already in your Chirps keep working. Duplicating a Chirp with files says "Not enough knowledge storage to copy this Chirp's files.", and starting from a template with files says "Not enough knowledge storage for this template's files."
To free up space:
- Remove files you no longer need: see Replace or remove a knowledge file.
- Replace a file with a smaller version. A replacement only needs room for the difference in size.
- Delete Chirps you no longer need (the account owner and workspace admins can). Archiving a Chirp keeps its files, so it doesn't free space.
- On the Academy plan, remove course files you no longer need.
Storage to start with: Essentials 1 GB, Creator 5 GB, Academy 10 GB, Business 20 GB. See the Pricing page for your plan's current amount.
