Learning paths

Put published courses in order as one program, add students to the whole path, and give a certificate for finishing it.

AcademyFor: Account owner, Workspace admin, Editor

When you're done, students on the path get a place on each of its courses, and each course opens when they finish the one before it.

Who can do this: the account owner and editors, on the Academy plan. Publishing a path needs the account owner or an editor you've allowed to publish; deleting one needs the account owner.

Create a path

  1. On the Academy page, click the Learning paths tab.
  2. Type a title, such as "Bread Baker", and click Create path. It opens as a Draft.
  3. Add a Description if you like.
  4. Under Courses, in order, choose each course from Add a published course…. Use the arrows to change the order. A path needs at least two courses, and only published courses can be added.
  5. Turn on Certificate for completing the whole path (1) if you want one. It's issued once, when the student completes the last course. Each course's own certificate is set in that course.
  6. Click Save, then Publish.
A path can have its own certificate (1); add students to the whole path (2).

Add students to the path

Once the path is published, Add students to the path (2) appears under it.

  1. Type one student per line: an email, or a name and email.
  2. Leave Email them an invitation with a link to the first course on to email them, or turn it off.
  3. Tick that you have their permission, then click Add students.

Each student gets a place on every published course in the path. If they already had a place on one of the courses, it stays as it was: if you had ended it, restore it on that course's Students tab, or they can't finish the path. Up to 200 invitations go out at once. The list under the box shows how many courses each student has done, and when they finished.

Change or remove a path

  • Add or remove courses: students still working through the path get a place on courses you add (students who finished it don't), without an email. Removing a course keeps their place on it, and it opens for them.
  • A course you unpublish or delete no longer holds anyone back: the course after it opens.
  • Unpublish: students keep their places on its courses, and the courses stay in order for them.
  • Delete path: students keep their places, and the courses no longer have to be taken in order.
