Course details and settings
Change a course's title, address and cover, decide how lessons open and how students join, or delete the course.
When you're done, your course looks right on its page, opens its lessons the way you want, and lets the right people in.
Who can do this: the account owner and editors, on the Academy plan. Only the account owner can delete a course.
Open the course and click Course details.
Title, address and cover
- Title, Subtitle (one line on what students get) and Description (who it's for, what they'll learn, how long it takes) appear on the course's page.
- Address: the end of the course's link, after your Academy's address. Changing it changes the link as soon as you save, and links with the old address stop working.
- Cover: click Upload cover to add a wide picture for the course's card and page. It's cropped to a 3 by 1 banner.
How the course works
-
Tutor: the Chirp that answers students' questions. See Give a course an AI tutor.
-
Lesson order (1):
- In order: a lesson opens when the required lessons before it are complete.
- Any order: students open any lesson.
-
How students join (2):
- You add them: you invite students by email, add them yourself or upload a list.
- They ask, you approve: students request a place on the course's page.
- With a course code: students who have the code join on their own. Make the code on the Students tab.
-
Show in the Academy's course list (3): off, the course isn't listed on your Academy's home page, but its page still works for anyone with the link.
-
Certificate on completion: students who complete the course get a certificate. See Certificates.
Click Save details. The Address, How students join, Show in the Academy's course list and Certificate on completion work as soon as you save. If the course is already published, its title, subtitle, description, cover, tutor and lesson order reach students when you publish the changes.
Delete a course
At the bottom of Course details, click Delete course and type the course's title to confirm. This deletes its lessons, files and published versions for good, and students lose their places and progress on it. Certificates already issued keep working. If the course was in a learning path, it no longer holds anyone back there; remove it from the path to tidy up.
To take a course offline for a while instead, unpublish it.
