Send leads to your email service

Connect AWeber, Mailchimp, Kit and seven more, then choose a list in a lead form so new leads go straight in.

EssentialsCreatorBusinessAcademyFor: Account owner, Workspace admin

When you're done, new leads go straight into your email list.

Who can do this: the account owner on any plan, and workspace admins.

1. Connect your email service

  1. Open Settings, Email services. Connections belong to the workspace that's open.
  2. Click your service:
    • AWeber: "Sign in to connect", then allow access at AWeber.
    • GetResponse, Kit (ConvertKit), Mailchimp, MailerLite, ActiveCampaign, Brevo, Drip, Systeme.io or Beehiiv: "Connect with a key". Paste the key (ActiveCampaign also needs its API URL); the form says where to find it.
  3. For a key, click Check & connect. "Your key is checked with … , stored encrypted and only ever sent to …."
Connect your email service once.

2. Choose a list in a lead form

  1. In the lead form's Where new leads go, click + Email service. (Save the form first.)
  2. Choose the connected service, then the list (or audience, group, tag or form, publication or email series, depending on the service). Some services take an Extra tag.
  3. Choose whether to send only leads who ticked "updates", or tick Send every lead, not only those who ticked "send me updates", and click Save.
Each form can send its leads to up to three places.

Test checks the connection and the list; it doesn't add anyone.

Who gets added

  • Only leads who ticked "updates", to start with. Choose Send every lead to send them all.
  • If your form doesn't offer the "updates" box, a destination left on only leads who ticked "updates" gets nobody. The form says so; switch the box on, or choose Send every lead.
  • Tags: where the service takes tags, each lead gets chirp-builder, and wants-updates or no-marketing-consent (GetResponse: chirp_builder, wants_updates, no_marketing_consent), so you can tell them apart. MailerLite, Brevo, Beehiiv and Systeme.io don't get these tags.
  • Names: Kit and Systeme.io get the first name only, Beehiiv gets no name, and GetResponse gets the name when it's 2 characters or more.
  • The service's own settings apply: double opt-in (MailerLite, GetResponse), list automations (ActiveCampaign), and Beehiiv's welcome email, which only leads who ticked "updates" get.
  • ActiveCampaign subscribes everyone you send to the list. Mailchimp adds new leads who didn't ask for updates as non-marketing contacts.

A form can send to up to 3 places. Each lead is sent once to each.

Good to know

  • Disconnecting stops lead forms sending to it and removes their destinations for it.
  • These connections are new. If something doesn't arrive, check the lead's Sent on on the Leads page.

If it doesn't work

  • "… didn't accept the connection. Reconnect it in Settings." The key is wrong or was removed.
  • "That doesn't look like a Mailchimp API key (it should end in something like -us6)."
  • "No lists found in that account. Create one there first."
  • "That email service is connected to another workspace."
  • "A lead form can send to up to 3 places."
