Add Actions through your AI app
Ask Claude, ChatGPT or another connected AI app to add, change, test or remove your Chirps' Actions.
When you're done, your AI app can set up Actions for you, and you know what's left for you to do in the editor.
Who can do this: the account owner, with an AI app connected to Chirp Builder: see Connect Claude, ChatGPT or another AI app.
What your AI app can do
Ask it in your own words, for example "Add this schema as an Action to my Garden Helper Chirp". It can:
- Add an Action from a schema's text, or replace one.
- List a Chirp's Actions, with their status, operations and any warning that calls are failing.
- Change which operations are on, which ask visitors first, and how it signs in.
- Test an operation. Reading data runs for real; a change is only previewed unless you tell it to send it for real.
- Remove an Action.
Moving a Custom GPT over with your AI app brings its Actions' schemas too.
What it needs
Its access level, in Settings under Connect your AI app:
- Read only: list Actions and test them; a change can only be previewed, not sent.
- Create and edit: add, change and remove Actions, and send a real change in a test once you've said yes.
- Create, edit and publish: also publish, so visitors get the changes.
When you connect an app, Create, edit and publish is chosen to start with; pick a lower level if you prefer. It works on your own Chirps, not on Chirps in workspaces shared with you.
What you do in the editor
- Add API keys. Your AI app never sees or sets them, so they never pass through a chat. See Add the API key an Action needs.
- Turn all Actions off, see the full Recent calls, and add a webhook with the form.
- Publish, unless your AI app has publish access.
