What visitors see when a Chirp wants to make a change

The card that shows visitors what an Action will send, and waits for them to confirm or cancel.

EssentialsCreatorBusinessAcademyFor: Account owner, Workspace admin, Editor, Visitors

When you're done, you know what your visitors see before an Action changes anything, and what happens next.

Who this is for: Chirp owners, and visitors who see the card.

The card

When a Chirp wants to make a change that asks first, the chat shows a card instead of sending:

  • "Confirm before it's sent", or "Confirm before it deletes or cancels something" with a red sign.
  • The Action's name and what the operation does.
  • The method and the service's address, like POST hooks.zapier.com.
  • The values that would be sent. A very long value is shortened on the card, and it shows up to 40.
  • Confirm (1) and Cancel (2). For a delete, Yes, do it and Cancel.

"Nothing is sent until you confirm."

Nothing is sent until Confirm (1); Cancel (2) sends nothing.

After the visitor answers

  • Confirm: "Sending…", then "Confirmed and sent." The Chirp tells them how it went. If the service said no, didn't answer in time or couldn't be reached: "Confirmed, but it didn't go through. See the reply below." After a timeout, the change may still have gone through at the service.
  • Cancel: "Cancelled. Nothing was sent." The Chirp says so briefly.
  • No answer for 10 minutes: the buttons go and the card says "This request expired. Nothing was sent." The Chirp can prepare it again. The same message shows if the card was already answered, say in another tab.

The values can't change once the card is shown, and they're erased once it's answered. Only the same browser can answer it.

Good to know

  • It shows in your preview too. Confirming there sends the request for real. To see what would be sent without sending it, use Preview request in a test: see Test an Action.
  • A visitor can have up to 5 waiting, and the Chirp asks for one change per reply.
  • Confirming fails, and the Chirp says so, when, while the card waits, Actions on is switched off or the key is removed, or the operation is switched off or the Action removed and that's published.
  • You see the answers under Recent calls, near the bottom of 7. Actions, in "Changes visitors were asked to confirm": see Recent calls and failing-call alerts.

To choose which changes ask first, see Choose operations, and when visitors confirm first.
